Questions from Pros
Am I an employee?
No. ScrubHub Pros are independent contractors (1099). You decide if and when to work and which jobs to take.
Do I bring my own supplies?
Yes, Pros bring their own cleaning products and tools, unless a client asks you to use theirs.
How do taxes work?
Stripe collects your tax info when you set up payouts and sends you a 1099 each year. We never store Social Security numbers.
What do I need to apply?
You must be at least 18, with a smartphone, a way to get to jobs, and a bank account or debit card for payouts. You’ll also keep a card on file to go online.
Do I need a business license?
Most cities and counties ask independent cleaners for a local business license, and some need a permit for working from home. It’s your responsibility as an independent contractor, and the app has a step-by-step guide with who to call in Charlottesville and Albemarle County.
Is there a background check?
We may ask for one, with your consent, and ScrubHub pays for it.
